Let me tell you a little about myself.
I have been happily breeding, raising and training dogs for most of my life. I was raised with dogs and developed an early, intuitive understanding of them - how they behave, how they think, and most importantly how to motivate and communicate with these emotionally complex, sensitive and intelligent creatures. I also have a very deep background in nursing that has been most useful in my calling as a dog breeder. I am the mother of seven amazing children, and six grandchildren (so far.) BlackBriar is a family endeavor, and every puppy goes from the heart of our family, to yours.
What happens when the breeder is also a top dog trainer? Puppies are on the right track from the very beginning! Raised with expert care and attention to proper socialization and curated learning experiences, BlackBriar Bernedoodle puppies are ready to meet the world with confidence and a clear understanding of their place in it. Many BlackBriar Bernedoodles have gone on to be service and emotional support dogs and are turning heads with their beauty, open social character, calm temperaments, and fun-loving personalities.
Am I the right breeder for you? Maybe.
There are some things I do really well: care of mothers, navigating difficult deliveries, supporting neonate puppies, providing an enriching environment to foster robust development of puppies, assessment of temperament, and matching pups with prospective families. I'm very tuned in to the needs of children in all stages of the puppy experience. I
provide excellent support and guidance once pups go to their new families. I have both a deep knowledge of all things dog and many years of experience as a dog breeder and trainer - and I will gladly share this knowledge with you. (More than you want, probably.) I will tell you the truth, which is not always easy to speak - or easy to hear, for that matter.
Then there are things I'm ALWAYS trying to improve. Photos are usually the pain point for me, so you may have to bug me a few times. I might not answer a text message immediately, or but it will generally be the same day. I can be a little slow with paperwork at times. I'm always grateful when a client gives me a gentle push to follow through.
But if you tell me there is a problem, I'm on it.
Why do I breed dogs? I can sum it up best by telling a short story:
Many years ago a family - father, mother and two young girls - was interested in buying a nice, very sweet puppy from me. I really liked the mom and the children, but I thought the dad was something of a jerk and I hesitated about the placement. Finally the puppy went to live with them many states away. Months later I received a letter from the dad, who said the following:
"Thank you for this puppy, now called Chaz. He is doing very well and we all love him. I must tell you, he filled a hole in my life that I did not even know was there."
And so it has happened, many times over. It is a privilege to be a small part of the history of so many families and people. People often ask me if it is hard to part with the puppies when they leave to begin their new lives with new families. I always find it a bittersweet experience. Raising superb companion dogs and placing great pups with wonderful people and families is the whole reason I am a breeder. I feel very fortunate to be able to share my passion for dogs with so many people.
